This research was aimed firstly to examine how many reading patterns of kanji compounds exist; secondly, to numerate the quantity and proportion of each reading pattern found; thirdly, to examine if linguistic pronunciation principle appeared; lastly, to see if linguistic pronunciation principle could be employed for sound pronunciation anticipation when reading kanji compounds. It was found that there were four reading patterns of kanji compounds: "on", "kun", "on" and "kun" combined, and "kun" and "on" combined. Among these four patterns, "on" was the most frequent pronunciation pattern for reading kanji compounds rated 97.4% followed by "kun" rated 46.7% which was almost half of the entire amount. Although the pronunciations of "on" and "kun" combined and "kun" and "on" combined were not frequent, they were rated 11.2%-12.0% which were not significantly different. Considering pronunciation pattern of kanji alphabets, it was found that some alphabets could be pronounced entirely four sounds, some could be three, some could be two and other could be pronounced only one sound. The alphabets with 1 st reading pattern o+o, was the greatest quantity rated 47.4% followed by the 12th reading pattern, o+o and k+k, rated 31.3%. The third frequent pronunciation fell into 124th pattern, o+o k+k and k+o, rate 5.9%. There was no kanji alphabet which could only be pronounced as 34th pattern, o+k and k+o. When scrutinizing the articulated sounds of kanji compounds, it was found that, in similar environment, minimal pairs of kanji compounds pronunciation could be juxtaposed meaning that the articulation of kanji compounds was arbitrary, not anticipative.th_TH
