dc.description.abstract	การวิจัยนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อวิเคราะห์รูปแบบการแปลและกลวิธีการแปลคําประชด เสียดสีจากนวนิยายเรื่องสี่แผ่นดินฉบับภาษาไทย ประพันธ์โดย ม.ร.ว. คึกฤทธิ์ ปราโมช ซึ่ง ตุลจันทร์ อันเป็นนามปากกาของจันทร์แจ่ม บุนนาค เป็นผู้แปลนวนิยายเรื่องสี่แผ่นดินฉบับภาค ภาษาอังกฤษ โดยใช้กรอบแนวคิดของรูปแบบการแปลของนิวมาร์ค (Newmark, 1981) และกลวิธี การแปลที่ใช้เพื่อแก้ไขปัญหาอันเนื่องมาจากความแตกต่างทางด้านวัฒนธรรมตามกรอบทฤษฎีของ เบเคอร์ (Baker, 1997) เป็นเครื่องมือในการวิเคราะห์ข้อมูล โดยนําเสนอข้อมูลในรูปแบบร้อยละ ผลการวิจัยพบว่าผู้แปลใช้รูปแบบการแปลมากที่สุดคือการแปลแบบดัดแปลง รองลงมา คือการแปลแบบตรงตัว ลําดับต่อไปคือการแปลเพื่อการสื่อสาร ส่วนกลวิธีการแปลผู้แปลใช้กลวิธีการแปลมากที่สุดคือการถอดความโดยใช้คําที่มีความเกี่ยวข้องกับต้นฉบับรองลงมาคือการแปลโดย การถอดความโดยการใช้คําที่ไม่มีความสัมพันธ์กันกับต้นฉบับและการแปลโดยการอธิบายความลําดับต่อไปคือการแปลโดยการแทนที่ทางวัฒนธรรม ผู้แปลใช้รูปแบบการแปลและกลวิธีการแปลที่หลากหลาย เนื่องจากความแตกต่างทางด้านวัฒนธรรมของภาษาต้นฉบับและภาษาฉบับแปล โดย ผู้แปลคํานึงถึงความเข้าใจของผู้อ่านภาษาแปลเป็นหลัก อีกทั้งผู้แปลยังพิจารณาถึงการเก็บรักษา ความหมายของต้นฉบับไว้ ตามรอยความคิดเจตนารมณ์ของผู้ประพันธ์ควบคุมด้วย

dc.description.abstractalternative	The purpose of the research was to find methods and techniques in translating the novel Four Reigns authored by Kukrit Pramoj and translated by Tulachandra. The focus of the analysis was on sarcastic irony found in the novel. The translation method to analyze the data was within Newmark’s (1981) framework and the techniques within Baker’s (1997). The number of methods and techniques used were calculated in percentages. The results reveal that the adaptation method was used the most frequently (32.10%) followed by literal (24.70%) and communicative (13.59%). In terms of translation techniques, translation by paraphrase using a related word was found the most frequently used (46.91%). Second, translation by paraphrase using unrelated words and by illustration were found at the same frequently (14.82%) and by cultural substitution (11.11%) These techniques were used to account for the cultural differences between the source (Thai) and target languages (English). The translator used various methods and techniques to keep the writer’s purpose and to make it possible for the target audience to understand the novel.
