dc.description.abstract	การวิจัยครั้งนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อสํารวจหน้าที่ทางภาษา (Language functions) ที่จําเป็นต่อการปฏิบัติงานของพนักงานต้อนรับส่วนหน้าของโรงแรมและความถี่การใช้ภาษาอังกฤษจําแนกตามหน้าที่ทางภาษาในการปฏิบัติงานของพนักงานต้อนรับส่วนหน้าของโรงแรม กลุ่มตัวอย่างที่ใช้ในการวิจัยเป็นพนักงานต้อนรับส่วนหน้าของโรงแรม จํานวน 220 คน จากโรงแรมระดับ 4 –5 ดาว ในเขตภาคตะวันออกโดยใช้การเลือกแบบสุ่มอย่างง่ายเครื่องมือที่ใช้ในการวิจัยคือแบบสอบถาม เพื่อระบุหน้าที่ทางภาษาและความถี่การใช้ภาษาอังกฤษตามหน้าที่ทางภาษาของพนักงานต้อนรับ ส่วนหน้า วิเคราะห์ข้อมูลโดยการหาค่าเฉลี่ย ค่าส่วนเบี่ยงเบนมาตรฐานและค่าร้อยละ ผลการวิจัยปรากฏว่าทักษะภาษาอังกฤษด้านการฟังการพูดและการอ่านอยู่ในระดับการใช้บ่อยมากส่วนทักษะการเขียนอยู่ในระดับการใช้บ่อย หน้าที่ทางภาษาหลักในด้านการฟังที่พบ มากที่สุดได้แก่ การขอความช่วยเหลือ (Asking for help) (𝑥𝑥̅=5.82) ด้านการพูดได้แก่ การต่อรอง (Negotiating) (𝑥𝑥̅=6.21) ด้านการอ่านได้แก่ การอ่านเอกสารประเภทต่าง ๆ (Reading for information) (𝑥𝑥̅=6.10) และการเขียนพบว่าเป็นการเขียนเพื่อให้ข้อมูล (Writing for information) (𝑥𝑥̅=5.30) หน้าที่ทางภาษาย่อยด้านการฟังที่พบมากที่สุดได้แก่ การฟังการขอความช่วยเหลือจากลูกค้าและการฟังการจองห้องพัก ทักษะการพูดได้แก่ การพูดต่อรองราคา ทักษะการอ่านได้แก่ การอ่านราคาห้องพักและทักษะการเขียนได้แก่ การเขียนแนะนําธุรกิจของโรงแรมในเว็บไซต์

dc.description.abstractalternative	The purposes of this research were to investigate language functions needed by front office staff in hotels and to examine the frequencies of English use based on language functions for each English language skill, including listening-speaking, reading and writing.. The subjects participating in this study comprised 220 front office staff, working for 4-5 star hotels located in the eastern region of Thailand. These subjects were recruited by a simple random sampling technique. The instrument used to collect the data was a questionnaire, designed to explore the language functions needed by these front office staff. The data were analyzed by mean, standard deviation and percentage. The findings of this study revealed that the English skills of listening, speaking, and reading were rated by the subjects at avery often used level, followed by the skill of writing which was rated at an often usedlevel. The main language functions mostly used in listening skill was asking for help (𝑥𝑥̅=5.82). For speaking skill, a main language function of negotiating was rated as the mostly used function (𝑥𝑥̅=6.21). Regarding reading and writingskills, reading for informationand writing for information were rated as the mostly used main language functions with 𝑥𝑥̅=6.10 and 𝑥𝑥̅=5.30, respectively. Also, the minor language functions mostly found in listening skills were asking for help and making a room reservation. For a speaking skill, negotiating was rated as the mostly used minor language function. Finally, regarding reading and writing skills, reading room rates and writing for hotel information on websites were rated as the mostly used minor language functions.
