The purposes of this study were to determine the existing situation of employment opportunity and capability induty performance of nursing graduates from Srinakharinwirot University as perceived by themselves, their supervisors and their co-workers. Thirty-three nursing gradutes of Srinakharinwirot University, 33 supervisors and 31 co-workers of the graduates were selected as the sample of the study. The questionnaire was constructed by the researchers, tried out and used to collect data. The coefficient of reliability of the questionnaire was 0.92. Ninety seven questionnaire (98.98 percent) were completed and returned. Data were analyzed by means of percentage, aritmetic mean and standard deviation.Based on the analyzes of data, the conclusions could be drawn as follows:1. Status of the population All of the nursing graduates were female and adminstrated to Srinakharinwirot University by taking the entrance examination organized by the Ministry of University Affairs. Most of them decided to study in the Faculty of Nursing as the fifty and sixty choices. Those who passed the entrance examination, organized by Srinakharinwirot University at Bangsaen for students finishing high school in the Eastern Region of Thailand, decided to study in Faculty of Nursing as their first choice.All of the supervisors were females. Most of them were between 40-49 years of age and got a bachelor degree or a diploma. Their working experiences were between 11-20 years.Most of the co-workers wer female and their age were between 20-29 years. They got a bechelor degree and their working experiences were between 6-10 years.2. Employment opportunity of the nursing graduates It was found that eighteen nursing and fifteen nursing graduates were employed in the private hospitals and in the government hospitals respectively. Most of them were employed between 1-35 days. They knew how and where to apply for the job by the faculty advisors and themselves. During a year of their working experiences most of them did not change their job.Most of the nursing graduates were employed as full-time nurses at hospitals. Their salaries ranged between 3950-8715 baht per month. The nursing graduates who in the government hospital got lowest salaries and those who worked in the cosmetic clinics got highest ones. Most of the nursing graduates were satisfied with their job.In regard to membership of the Nurses' Association of Thailand, most of the nursing graduates did not apply for the membership. However, they intended to do so in the near future.3. Capability in duty performance of the nursing graduates With reference to five aspects of characteristics and capability in duty performance of the nursing graduates--nursing performance, acedemic knowledge, administrative performance, attitude towards profession and personality--the nursing graduates, their supervisors and their co-workers rated the above aspects of characteristics and capability at a high level, except the aspect of the nursing performance was rated at a middle level by the supervisors. Among the five aspects of characteristics and capability in duty performance of the nursing graduates, the aspect of personality was rated at the highest level. |
